Key information when converting a portal

I've created a app which allows clients to upload documents using a portal, during testing the portal was in the trial period, now we are looking to roll out the app and portal to a production environment, is there any key information that I should be aware of before I convert it from trial to production?

I have had a look in the docs but could only find the lifecycle page and the page on how to do the conversion.

Any advice would be most appreciated.

    Hi @Ben_C

If you are happy with the test environment and if you would like to move it to production along with the data use the configuration migration utility tool by Microsoft.

If you don't need any data for example you might have used dummy data for your custom entities, you don't want to delete this dummy data but move only the structure then use Xrmtoolbox portal records mover.

Other than that you are good to go.

I've been able to connect to the main environment client(upgrade) using the visual studio code plugin power apps cli, but I can't seem to connect through to their development environment. I can't see in the documentation any command that would allow me to signify which environment to connect to.

    Any advice?

    Hi @Ben_C

Please have a look at the below official docs

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/admin/manage-configuration-data

All you need is to create a schema for the target environment. You can also utilise the schema template.

    1. Export the current environment

    2. Display list of organisations

    3. Import it into the target environment using the schema.

Download schema template from below link

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/maker/portals/admin/migrate-portal-configuration

Also adding video references for your kind reference

    Hope it helps.
