Yes, there is a direct way to edit the global CSS via VSCODE online.
In Design Studio:
1. Hit the "Styling menu" from the left panel
2. Click on the desired theme > Three little dots > Manage CSS
3. Click upload and upload a file called "custom.css"
4. Once you uploaded the file > Then hit the three dots like above and you can see "Edit Code"
Voila!
