Labels in forms, where to edit them?

There seems to be 3 places you can set a form field label, and I'm not sure where is best to edit it and why, because none of them seem synced, so I'm guessing they serve different purposes and have an order of precedence. If you want to offer translations does that impact which type you use?

1) When you add a basic form to a page, you can edit the label in the design studio.
2) You can also change the label in the basic form editor in the display panel.
3) You can even seemingly add an attribute to the form metadata and set the label for a field that way

Behind the scenes there are only 2 for the actual fields:
    • Fields on a Dataverse Form (the designer updates this).
    • Power Pages Metadata record - sometimes you need a different label or longer one than what the standard Dataverse one allows (e.g. may use the same Dataverse Form in 2 places - and have 2 power pages forms that use the same dataverse form - but in each place a particular field should have a different label).
From a Dataverse perspective each field has a Display Name (by default is the label on the form also, and is displayed in lists and subgrids as the column header), on each Dataverse Form you can change the Label (and not impact the underlying Display Name).

    Regarding Translations - Yes.
    • The Dataverse Display Names and Form Labels are translated by installing Language Packs into your Dataverse environment. The existing language pack translations will only cover out of the box items such as for CreatedOn etc, any custom items you have added you will then need to use the mechanism to provided for Dataverse Translation (or XRMToolbox - which is generally a little easier).
    • Metadata (and also Mutlistep and the basic form) includes subgrid items as well - and is only visible from the Power Pages Management App - after installing a Language Pack you will notice that there is now a spot to provide the 'base' value typically US english 1033, and the translation for the Language Pack you installed. - Unless there is an out of the box translation (e.g. something like the standard Create for a List or Subgrid) you will have to manually update those fields.
