Hi All

I'm editing the JavaScript in a Power Pages Web Template and have got the following message displaying at the top of my editor

If I add anymore code and attempt to save the web template the new code is not saved.

What are my options?

Can the limit be increased and if so where/how?

What is the reason for this limit?

Thanks in advance

    Hi

    Ideally you should:
    • make sure your JavaScript functions are more generic
    • create a Web File with the generic JS functions and upload it as a JS File
    • you can reference the file either in the Header or Tracking Code snippet
    • keep you Web Template with the most relevant content for the Web Template
    • I also like to use jQuery syntax since it also reduces the file size
    this should reduce the code size significantly

    Thanks Oliver

    We were thinking along similar lines. Have a web template for the JS functions and one for the styling, then the main web template would include these e.g.

    'ABC' would have the HTML and some JS

    'ABC Script' would contain the JS functions
    'ABC Style' would contain the css classes for styling

    then in ABC
        {% include 'ABC Script' %}
        {% include 'ABC Style' %}

    Like you suggested make the functions generic where possible so they could be used across other web templates where possible

    Out of interest why is the limit 100000, seems like an arbitrary value?

    The 100,000 is just the field size. In the old days you could have also just increased it - but in the Enhanced model you are not able to increase it yourself as the table you interface with is a virtual table.

    As you have suggested you can work around it by using other Web Templates and Including them, but also Oliver's suggestion of adding the JS as Web Files is also how you would often do it (your script tags can have a src= to the web file).
