Ok here is my issue.....

I have an old Word form (15+ years old) my company demands to be used.  I took the Word form and put it into Infopath, but to get the "additional fields" from Sharepoint I have to use  calculated fields.  My dropdowns cannot get the values from calculated fields (I am sure I dont know what I am doing!).  So I have another idea using PowerApps and I want to see if anyone has tried this before I spend tons of time.

First off, we all are aware of the no print from PowerApps and that is a must (at a minimum a .pdf).

1.  Create a SP List

2.  Default an Infopath form with the list. (With a dropdown to select the form number) and the other appropriate field boxes.

3.  Acquire the data from the various Lookups using a PowerApps app (not a form).  Save data.

4.  Open in the SP list in the Infopath template - the dropdown will allow you to pick the form number and the text boxes populate depending on the form number picked.

5.  Save this form into a forms library for viewing?  Like I mentioned - even a .pdf?

Is this a good work around for seeing that form populated?

Any and all suggestions are appreicated.

    Hi @TerrificTerri,

For powerapps part, if you only want to edit the existing items of the lookup column, then you could use the Patch function to achieve this.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/maker/canvas-apps/functions/function-patch

But if you want to add new item to SharePoint list with only lookup column then I'm afraid that this cannot be achieved as to submit an item to SharePoint you must have all the required fields filled with data.

For InfoPath related part, please post in https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/home?forum=sharepointcustomization.

But I would like to suggest that you could start to consider to do this all using PowerApps, as you may already know, InfoPath will end by 2022. With PowerApps you might have a new solution for a big part of your InfoPath forms.

    Regards,

    Mona
