Hi All,

Is it possible to use connectors in Portal? I would like to retrieve the data from a Non-CDS data source like SQL Server. If yes, please suggest.

Thanks

Anjan

    @AnjanChidige

    As you can use JQuery in PowerApps Portal

    I tried with JQuery ajax funtion to call REST API to fetch data from SQL server. It works well

    But not sure this is recommended way of calling API or not.

    CDS also provides a feature called virtual entities, basically it connects to an external API to retrieve external data (this is read-only though)

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/developer/common-data-service/virtual-entities/get-started-ve

    you can also think of other ways to integrate your data source with CDS data via integration services

    Hi @AnjanChidige ,

    Do you want to use other Non-CDS Connector within your PowerApps Portal?

    Currently, within PowerApps Portal, it use CDS Entity as only data source. Other Non-CDS connectors are not supported in PowerApps Portal.

    If you would like this feature to be added in PowerApps Portal, please consider submit an idea to PowerApps Ideas Forum:

    https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Power-Apps-Ideas/idb-p/PowerAppsIdeas

    As an alternative solution, you could consider generated a canvas app based on your other Non-CDS connector (e.g. SQL Server). Then you could embed your canvas app into your Power Portal, then you could do some CRUD operations to your SQL Table through this embedded canvas app.

    More details about embedding canvas app in PowerApps Portal, please check the following blog:

    Best regards,
