Power Automate with Loop - URGENt

Hello,

as I am planning to build a knowledge base for our company in Microsoft Loops. Therefore I would also considering to implement power automate, e.g. for sending automatically an update to all employees if new loop components or pages are available with new input.

Is that possible?

From my research I understood that with creating a rule in a table in loops power automate is integratable. But are there also other opportunities (e.g. the update email like mentioned above)?

Happy to get quickly an answer, as I have to present the results tomorrow.

Best regards

Power Automate with Loop - URGENt

Yes, you can integrate Power Automate with Microsoft Loop to send automated updates, such as notifying employees about new Loop components or pages with new input. While Microsoft Loop is still relatively new, integration opportunities with Power Automate can be implemented using existing tools like SharePoint, Microsoft Lists, and Teams for communication.

Here’s how you can achieve your goal:

Option 1: Track Changes in a Loop-Connected Table

If you have a table in a Loop component connected to a SharePoint list or Microsoft Lists, you can use Power Automate to trigger actions based on changes:

    Steps:

    1. Track Updates in the Connected List/Table:

      • Use the "When an item is created or modified" trigger for the connected SharePoint or Microsoft List.
      • This allows Power Automate to monitor changes in the data (e.g., new rows added, updates made).
    2. Send Notifications:

      • Use the "Send an email" or "Post a message in a chat or channel" actions to notify employees.
      • Include the updated content or links to the Loop component.
    3. Example Flow Outline:

      • Trigger: "When an item is created or modified" in the connected list.
      • Action: Use the "Get changes for an item or a file (properties only)" action to detect what changed.
      • Condition: Check if relevant fields were updated.
      • Action: Send a Teams or email notification with the new content.

Option 2: Monitor Loop Files in SharePoint

Loop components are stored as .fluid files in SharePoint or OneDrive. You can monitor these files for changes.

    Steps:

    1. Monitor the SharePoint Library:

      • Use the "When a file is created or modified" trigger in the SharePoint document library where Loop components are stored.
    2. Get Details of Changes:

      • Use the "Get file metadata" and "Get file content" actions to retrieve details about the modified Loop file.
    3. Send Updates to Employees:

      • Post the change summary in Teams or send it via email:
        • Include the name of the updated Loop component.
        • Provide a link to access it.

Option 3: Leverage Microsoft Teams Integration

If your Loop components are shared in Teams, you can trigger actions directly from Teams events.

    Steps:

    1. Monitor Updates in Teams Channels:

      • Use the "When a message is posted" or "When a channel message is updated" triggers.
    2. Identify Loop Updates:

      • Add conditions to filter for Loop-related updates (e.g., mentions of specific files or links).
    3. Notify Employees:

      • Automatically notify all employees of the update with a summary or link to the relevant Loop content.
