Connection Reference Lookup - Model-driven app form

Posted on 25 Nov 2024 16:43:35 by 149
Hi,

I have created a custom table with a lookup to the "Connection Reference" table. When I add this field to a Model-driven app form it appears read-only.

I have tried everything to make the field editable but no luck as of yet, any ideas? Is there a restriction on searching for values within this table via a form?

I can see the values if I access the data via the table designer (columns and data section) but not via a MDA form.

Thanks,
LT

Connection Reference Lookup - Model-driven app form
Thanks for your message, confirming none of what you've mentioned resolves the issue unfortunately. I'm trying to avoid going to Microsoft. I am wanted to identify if the anyone has come across this and knows what restrictions apply to the Connection Reference table.

    Thanks

Connection Reference Lookup - Model-driven app form
This issue occurs because the "Connection Reference" table is a system table with specific restrictions, and fields referencing it may appear as read-only by design in certain scenarios. Here are steps
    • Check that your user role has full permissions for both the custom table and the "Connection Reference" table. Missing permissions can make the field read-only.

    • Make sure the field on the form isn’t set as read-only in the form settings of the model-driven app.

    • Confirm that the lookup field is properly set up in your custom table as a "Lookup" type, not a calculated or composite field.

    • Test the form in another app or environment to see if the issue is specific to this app.

    • If the issue is still there, it could be a system restriction on the "Connection Reference" table. You can create a custom table with the data you need from the "Connection Reference" table and use that table for the lookup instead.

    • If none of this works, contact Microsoft support to confirm if there are any system limitations or get further guidance.
