Create Invitation - Login - Invalid sign-in attempt

Hello Everyone,

Thanks for reading my post.

Following are the steps we're following:-

  • For Portal Registration/Login (using Local Login), we're inviting our Customer using 'Create Invitation'.
  • Users are receiving the invitation email.
  • Users are clicking on the link and they will land on the Redeem Invitation page.
  • Users are clicking on the Register button and setting their Password/New Password.
  • Users are able to login perfectly.
  • But, if they sign-out and try to login again with their Username/Email and Password then it always fail with 'Invalid sign-in attempt'.
  • And, this is NOT happening with every User. There are handful of Users who are facing this issue.

Anyone else faced the similar issue? Any steps to troubleshoot or how to check the under the hood exception of 'Invalid sign-in attempt'?

Let me know if further information is need. Thanks.

    Hello Everyone,

After enabling the diagnostic logging in the portal. I'm able to see the below log in the Azure Blob storage.

    RequestPath:/SignIn, UserId:xxxxxxxxxxxxx, MemberName:ValidateUserName, SourceFilePath:S:\Framework\Adxstudio.Xrm\AspNet\Identity\CrmUserManager.cs, SourceLineNumber:628, Category:Authentication, Message:Duplicate User Name: The user name "xyz123@difca.com" is already taken., ErrorCategory:UserError

But, when I'm checking how many records of Contact have 'xyz123@difca.com' in the adx_identity_username then there is only one record.

Any idea what I'm missing here? Thanks.

    HI @zohaibukhan ,

I suspect this is related to Third-party cookies enabled on the browser.  In any of your users Incognito window make sure you turn off Block third-party cookies and try again with your registration invite. I remember this problem was fixed when the cookies were turned off.

Thanks @ragavanrajan for the reply. I tried the suggestion you asked but no luck.

Following is the more information which I noticed:-

    • Authentication/Registration/LocalLoginByEmail is set as True.
    • There are more than one record which has same email address.

If we have above settings then following exception is appearing:

Duplicate User Name: The user name "xyz123@difca.com" is already taken.

So, we tried two different approaches:-

    • Approach # 1 - Disable all of the contacts which have same email address except the one to which we need the invitation.
    • Approach # 2 - Set Authentication/Registration/LocalLoginByEmail is set as False.

In both of the approaches, end Customer is able to Login again successfully.

    Thanks.
