I am working in only 1 environment. I have a power app that connects a gallery to a record of a SharePoint site/library. I need to use the app, or a renamed copy of the app/solution, so that the gallery connects to a record of an alternate SharePoint site/library. Since I cannot use a variable to point to data sources, I was hoping to leverage the new functionality of environment variables.
My plan would be:
1. Create a solution and add the PowerApp to it.
2. Enable the Automatically create environment variables when adding data sources in the app settings.
3. Remove, Re-Add the data source so that an environment variable is created.
4. Save App and Export Solution.
5. Import solution to the same environment and direct the data source to a and alternate SharePoint site/library.
6. Rename solution and import to same environment and direct the data source to a second alternate site/library.,
The issue I'm having are with step 5. Since there is already an App in the environment I cannot import a solution with the same app. This is the warning I get:
Importing this solution will convert the components into managed components for this solution. Warning: Any customizations that your organization has made to these
Is there a way to rename the app or solution so that I can import it multiples time and connect to different data sources? Could I just save a copy of the app and create a new solution for each saved copy? Or 1 solution with each App?
