We have tried the liquid code in this article: https://community.dynamics.com/365/customerservice/f/dynamics-365-for-customer-service-forum/390687/add-portal-notification-tab-whenever-a-ticket-is-updated-by-helpdesk/1194227#1194227
but seemed that this line does not work as expected:
{% assign countNotification = my_query.results.entities.size %} it always shows the value = 0.
please advise.

Check the table permissions on the table that you have this query, FetchXML atlest needs read table permissions on the entity that you are querying.
