Why does Power Apps create Number fromats when the MS list is a Date format?

I am new to Power Apps. But i have extensive experience in VBA programming and programming in general.

When i create a new Power App from a MS List (in SharePoint) the date fields from my List are created as Number Formats in PA. And i cant find a simple way to edit the field/ Data card so that it is a Date with a date picker.

In MS Access it would simply inherit the parent formatting. Why not now?

How do i achieve this, simply?

    Hi,

I've seen this in Excel, I've never seen it in SharePoint, so weird.

Is the Text Input set to Text or Number Input (1st page of properties)?

    Let me add this though

If you want to edit the Form, you have to pick the given DataCard, and unlock it, via its properties on the Right.
Then you can modify the Card, to be another control, or you can try to fix the current issue, again, checking
the properties and just make sure its not set to Number versus string.

However, once you unlock the card, you can delete that control and Add the date picker.
then in the Default property of the Picker, do ThisItem.DateFieldnameHere

Thanks @FLMIKE  , yes my first attempt was with an excel table, then i read that they should be lists so i moved data into a List.

    1. The data type is a number.
2, When i edit the Card (yes i unlocked it) it wont allow me to change to a Date Type nor a Date Picker.

I have played with this for hours, not a great introduction Power Apps.
