Import into CDS from ftp or onedrive

Hi all,

Super happy about CDS and importing from on-prem sources; lots of scenarios just work OOTB.

But I can't seem to find a way to import from (S)FTP for eg, and a way to make the `import from a folder` work from OneDrive (works fine from on-prem).

Thanks!

    Hi David,

Regarding OneDrive, i was not able to find a import from folder over OneDrive, just import 1 file.

On FTP, I got it to work in 2 steps; using a Flow, i read from FTP, drop into a storage account, from where i do a import data flow, but it's quite cumbersome. Can't understand why FTP could not be used as a data source for import DataFlows.

You should be able to import from OneDrive - how far do you get, and do you get an error you can share ?

For ftp, are you trying to get a file from an ftp server, and then import it ? If so, I think you'd need to do this in 2 steps; first download the file using ftp to a file location, then import it. It's fairly easy to script the ftp download if necessary

Thakns Alex for looking into the issue, but i am not sure why you mention data format.

I'd be happy with any data format as long as i could import from ftp or from onedrive folders.

    Hi Catalin,

Looking through your issue it appears that this is not supported. Our documentation below shows that the import data must either be in csv, xml, or text files. it might be possible to come up with a work around but I would contact Microsoft Customer Support to help delve farther into coming up with a workaround for your data specifically.

You can find out how to create a ticket here if you would like to go down that path:

    Regards,

    Alex
