Forms to Planner Task - Auto Assign User ID's based off Multiple Choice Question with 3 Options

Hi All,

I am currently building a flow to create tasks in Planner based on responses to a Form. I am trying to automate Assigning each task to a user based on selected answer of a multiple choice question. The multiple choice question has three options ( the name of 3 possible users to assign task to). Each task would only be assigned to a single user.

The question on the form reads:

Assign task to:

  • User 1
  • User 2
  • User 3

Most of the possible solutions I am finding involve creating a condition that only works if there are two possible users to assign task to.

The other option I have tried is creating a data array connecting Names to Emails. However, I had trouble getting the filter data function to pick up the data array I created.

Any advice would be much appreciated. Even if it is just a starting point.

Thank you!

In scenarios like this, where people tend to change, I almost always make a config list somewhere with a Title column (Response A, Response B, Response C), and a Person column for whoever that Response type should be sent to.  While there are ways to do conditions with 3 items (nested, or, in formulas), I like this method because it means that you can make admins who don't need to know Power Automate to change the users / responses without touching your dear workflow.

Then all you need to do is "Get Item" from SharePoint, filtered on the Response in the Title, and boom, there's your task assignee.

    What do you think?

    Cheers,

    Rhia
