"Edit Code" Option Disabled in Power Pages Studio in Microsoft US Government Cloud

Hi,

I am currently working with a client who is using the Microsoft US Government Cloud. I have been assigned a Power Platform Premium license and can successfully create Power Apps and Power Automate flows. However, when working in Power Pages, I can create a site, but the "Edit in Visual Studio Code" option is disabled in the Power Pages Studio. When I click on 'Edit Code' , it redirects to Power portal management tool. Attached screenshot for reference.

Additional details:

- The version of Power Portal Management is 9.2.2.xxx.

- I have tried multiple approaches, but the issue persists.

Can you please advise what might be missing or what needs to be enabled for the "Edit in VS Code" option to be available? I would appreciate an immediate solution as this is a critical feature for my development work.

Thank you in advance for your assistance!

    Hi @  ,

Thank you for choosing Microsoft Community.

The “Edit in Visual Studio Code” option being disabled in Power Pages Studio for the Microsoft US Government Cloud is a known limitation. This feature is not available in Government Community Cloud (GCC), Government Community Cloud (GCC High), and Department of Defense (DoD) environments. Users in these regions must use the Portals Management app for editing code.

Here are some steps you can take to work around this limitation:

    Use the Portals Management App:
Since the “Edit in VS Code” feature is unavailable, you can continue using the Portals Management app to manage and edit your site’s code.
Local Development with Power Platform CLI:
You can use the Power Platform CLI to download the portal content to your local machine, make changes using Visual Studio Code, and then upload the changes back to the portal.

This approach allows you to leverage the full capabilities of Visual Studio Code for development.

    Feedback and Support:
If this feature is critical for your development work, consider providing feedback to Microsoft through their support channels. This can help prioritize the feature for future updates in the Government Cloud environments.
If you need detailed guidance on using the Power Platform CLI for local development or any other assistance, feel free to ask!

If this fixes the issue, please mark as resolved to help others with find it.

    Happy to help

    try the following:
    • Confirm environment compatibility and check for restrictions on external tool integrations.
    • Use the Power Portal Management Tool for current customizations.
    • Reach out to Microsoft Support for further assistance and consider monitoring for updates.
