I've created a basic Flow that interacts with a SharePoint list, has an Approval step and Condition, but when I try to capture the response to the Approval there is no option to do that. What am I missing? See images below.
Also how do I capture the Approver's response to a approval record?
Here are the available data elements:
Here is the beginning part of the Flow..
I'm not sure I can follow along without seeing it. I think you might want to post a new thread and include a screen capture of your complete flow so others can follow along and help out. This thread has a solution so there isn't going to be much response to your issue.
I'm pulling that information from a secondary list so we don't have to hard code. It's a big approval workflow. I placed my email in that secondary list so that i get the approvals for now. I am getting the approvals but when the outcome area empties out, it sends it on the wrong path.
There is a filter so that it looks at the certain columns on who to send to.
I would set the "Assigned To" field of your approval record to your email address for testing purposes so you receive the approval email and can respond to it. Ignore the variable I'm using in the screenshot below. Just put your email address in that field. Let me know if that works.
WHile I've been testing, i've noticed that the workflow sends an incorrect email or goes on the wrong path because the outcome has been emptied out.
@DCNehs
I'm a little confused as to what's going on, so could you provide me with more information?
Are you saying that you are responding to the approval (email) but your Flow is not capturing that Response or Outcome? What does the run history say about your flow? Is there errors or is it still running?
I'm using a start and wait and the "Outcome" still keeps emptying. Not sure what's going on. I've tried both Response and Outcome. Maybe doing something wrong?
@ChristianAbata Thank you for the prompt response. The screen caption above is in alphabetical order and "Outcome" is not an option (even in the options not pictured). I'm not a pro at Power Automate so I looked up "Choose an Action" and "Outcome" and it wasn't an option there either. Your guidance is greatly appreciated.
Hi Matt,
You need to add the wait for an approval action before you can select outcome like what has already been suggested. As of right now with how you have it built you are just creating an approval and the Flow continues on with running without waiting for a response which means it cannot track the outcome. You need to set the flow to wait for a user to provide it with an outcome before that option will show. Take a look at my attached screenshot if you need help.
Regards,
Alex
