Creating PDF off CDS Data

Hi all,

I have a canvas app which interacts with CDS and saves a set of data within. I want to create another button to "Create and send PDF". I have a really tight timeframe to get this completed and I have had a look online and the way in which this is achievable seems to be by the Plumsail template.

From reading this I have to grab the document from SharePoint and populate the DOCX template, then convert this to a PDF within the same Flow steps. Is this the only way to do this or is has there been improvements to this functionality within Flow?

I think want to store the document I have sent again the CDS record it has been generated from. What are the steps involved to do this? Do I need to turn on SharePoint integration and do it that way?

Hi @mattyn07 ,

@abm 's correct, Microsoft flow OneDrive connector has a "Convert file" action, you could create the word document in your OneDrive for business, and use the "Convert file" action to convert the word to pdf.

Hi,

Thanks for that.

I get the docx out of that but i then need to convert that to a PDF. I read the only way to do this was via the Plumsail connector or am I mistaken?

Hi @mattyn07

Flow action 'Populate a word template' is the native connector which flow offers. Plumsail connector has much more features than standard flow word template.

You can generate the word document in onedrive or SharePoint or your local drive (via Gateway connection).

If you looking to attach the document under CDS entity then you need to use the Notes entity to attach the document, then set the regarding id of the record (Contact, Account or Custom entity).
