Power Apps Portal: Web Form with Steps

So I created entities, created entity forms and these all work fine on portal pages in the Form control... so far so good 👍🏼

However online info (like https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/maker/portals/configure/web-form-properties) says we can create Web Forms which are a special kind of form entity that supports steps to create a wizard-like experience including branching functionalities.

Anybody got this working?
Documentation just says to link a new portal page to the created web form but for me the page then just shows nothing... do I need to use any kind of page template / special control / special anything to get a web form with multiple steps shown on a portal page?

    Hi @Django ,

Do you want to display multiple web forms steps within your Portal?

If you want to display multiple web forms steps within your Portal, you need to configure your Web Forms and related web steps within your Portal Management, and then relate the Web Forms to a specific web page in your Portal, rather than just link a new portal page to the created web form.

Please consider configure your Web Form Steps based on the following article:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/maker/portals/configure/web-form-steps

    Best regards,

    Thanx @v-xida-msft !

That is exactly what I want to do --> however on the page I referenced it just says: "When creating or editing a webpage from the the Portal Management app, a Web Form can be specified in the lookup field provided on the New Web Page form."

So here is what I did:

    1. Create a Web Forms entity:
      PowerAppsPortals_01WebForms.png
    2. Added multiple steps in this new entity:
      PowerAppsPortals_02WebFormsSteps.png
    3. Each step is related to a Custom Form of the same entity

    4. A brand new page linked to this Web Form
      PowerAppsPortals_04PageWithWebForm.png
    5. This makes the Web Page a related entity in the created Web Form
      PowerAppsPortals_05PageRelatedToWebForm.png
    6. The page first shows an error when opening in Portal Studio "Error displaying preview":
      PowerAppsPortals_06PageError.png
    7. When browsing as example it shows an incomplete page:
      PowerAppsPortals_07PageBlank.png
    8. After I change the Page template in the Portal Studio to a Full Page for example the preview renders but as blank:
      PowerAppsPortals_08PageTemplateChange.png
    9. When browsing as example after this it shows an blank page:
      PowerAppsPortals_09PageBlank.png

Am I missing anything important? Nothing in both our links tell us to do anything else right?

@Django You will still need to specify the webform in the content. There will be two ways of doing it:

    1. You can directly include it as liquid tag in page copy (content area):

    {% webform name: 'My Web Form' %}

    2. If you have referenced the webform with page, then you can use the page field reference instead of name in webform. This is more frequently used where you are using a fixed template and the template references to the page property of webform. This is a scalable solution for page templates where user just needs to assign page property and template takes care of rendering. I don't remember the exact syntax, but if you need the same, do let me know.

That is definitely one step further @Yogesh_Gupta 👍

With the Full Page template I still got a blank page but when I changed the page template to a Default studio template the liquid magic surfaced!

    Thanx a lot guys!

    Hi @Django ,

Were you ever able to resolve this?

I still cant use any other template than the default or the knowledge. The webform never shows up, always blank.

    Any advice/help would be appreciated.

    Kind regards,

    Charan

    Hi @charanksodhi,

After following all the right steps (and there are quite some steps that could go wrong) to create web forms with the correct (entity) permissions, steps and configuration.

I needed to use a specific page template: Default studio template

    with a specific liquid tag: like {% webform name: 'My Web Form' %}

    You change the page template:

    1. In the new What You See Is What You Get Designer
    2. In the Model Driven App Portal Management --> select the Page
    3. As an authenticated Portal User that has the Administrators web rol --> you get a special menu where you can edit page settings directly
