Populate Contact field "Company Name" when creating a new Account via the portal

Hello Power Apps Portals Community,

I hope you can help please. I'm creating a Power Apps Portal and have a question please. When a new customer first comes to the portal they register their "Contact" details.

Then the next step once they signed in is to create an "Account" and fill in the relevant details. On the "Entity Form", where they create the Account, I have the field name "Account Name".

Once the Account is created and I look in the model-driven app, I see that on the Account record the "Primary Contact" field is populated with the Contact that created the Account from the portal. Great!

But, when I look at the Contact record in the model-driven app, it does not have the field "Company Name" populated. It is blank.

Does anyone know how to populate this without having to use a workflow in the model-driven app or without having to create a flow in Power Automate? It seems like this should populate automatically on creation of the Account. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks very much,

Garry

    Hi @GarryPope,

Are you using some custom page with entity page where users can create an account? If so I think the only way would be to use workflow or flow to populate the data on the account.

If a separate page is not necessary for you I would advise leveraging creation of an account on profile page itself. You can make account field mandatory and allow them to create a new account.

    Hello @OOlashyn,

Thanks so much for replying to another one of my questions!

I'm not 100% sure what you mean by "custom page with entity page", sorry.

I made a "create" entity form

I made a "create" page template

I made a "create" web page

So I assume what I made above is causing the "Customer Name" field to not be populated.

I like the idea of creating the Account on the Contact Profile page, but there are a lot of fields and steps in the process, plus it took me ages to get to this point, so I don't want to unpick it all.

I'll create a flow to populate this.

I appreciate you answer, and again, your speedy reply. All the best,

    Garry
