Is there a way to use multi-step form as edit & read only mode !!

Hi everyone,

I have got a multi-step form which users can use to input the information. I want users to be able to see the information after they have submitted the form. Is there any way I could use the same form as a read-only form as well?  I believe there should be a standard way of doing this as this should be a common requirement.

Thanks in advance!

Kind Regards,

Hafiz

    Hi Hafiz,

When you build Multistep Forms, you should consider to build three seperarte Multistep Form record, for example:

    Case - Create

    Case - Edit

    Case - Readonly

When you configure the steps, you can change the Mode for Insert, Edit or Read only.

    Cheers,

    Dom

    Hi @domliu ,

Thank you for your response. Does that mean I need to create 3 separate forms each of insert/update/view?

    Hi Hafiz,

That is correct, it is not the only option but personally I think it is the best option. I've seen people merge Edit and Readonly form into one record, but then they have to add some custom logic (code) to manually make each fields readonly.

When you actually create a Multiplstep form using the Portal editor, it does automitically create 3 forms (create, edit, readonly) for you, so i'm guessing it is also what MSFT recomended.

    Dom

    Hi @domliu ,

Thanks for your response. Yes, there are multiple issues if we use the same form as edit/insert/read-only. What I have observed is that in this case, it activates the form and user cannot create another form even this application is approved or refused if we are storing session information.

However, I am not sure how multistep form creates 3 forms automatically. I have created a form using portal editor and I can only see 1 form. We can change the mode to insert/edit/read-only, however there is only 1 form created.

Can you please elaborate or show the configuration? Thanks!

    Hi Hafiz,

What i meant is to create 3 different Multiplestep Form, then configure the step for each one seperately 😊
