Trouble adding uploaded files as knowledge

Hi,

I am creating an agent in Copilot Studio for Lab 06 of the 'Build Intelligent Agents' course.

Whenever I try uploading a document as knowledge (including the one provided in the lab instructions at Lab 06 Instructions, I encounter an issue with what I think is indexing the document. The file uploads OK but then the processing remains stuck at "In Progress". I have tried creating a new agent, using InPrivate session and still encounter the same issue.

Has anyone else come across this and managed to resolve it? Tried emailing powerup support but they said it was outside their scope!

Thanks,
I have the same question (0)

You’re not doing anything wrong here. When a file upload stays in “In Progress” but web URLs move to “Ready”, it usually points to an issue with the background indexing service rather than your agent setup.

A few things that have worked for others:
    • Try uploading a simplified version of the document (remove images, complex tables, or formatting, or save as .txt) and use a new filename
    • Make sure the file does not have any protection, macros, or sensitivity labels
    • As a reliable workaround, host the document in SharePoint or OneDrive and add it as a URL instead of uploading it directly
If it stays stuck for a long time, it is likely an environment or service limitation. Using a URL-based source is usually the quickest way to move forward with the lab.
