I am working on power pages, where i want to enable the timeline so logged in user can add/view/edit/delete notes.
I have created one supplier table which has relation to contact table through which i am identifying the logged in user.
Help me with step by step guide to enable the note functionality using basic forms.
I tried to set the permissions for Supplier, contact and Annotation table but somehow it is not working as expected for me.
Looking forward for the response.

Thanks for raising the question in Q&A forum.

To enable Timeline/Notes (Annotation) on a Power Pages Basic Form (so a signed-in user can add/view/edit/delete notes), you need Timeline enabled on the Dataverse form and the correct parent + child table permissions tied to a web role.
    • Enable Timeline in Supplier Form: First, enable attachments on the Supplier table in Dataverse and add the timeline control to the main Supplier form using the model-driven app form designer or Power Pages design studio Data workspace. This exposes notes (annotations) for your custom table. Sync configuration after changes.
    • Create Basic Form Metadata: In Portal Management app, navigate to Basic Forms, open your Supplier basic form, go to Basic Form Metadata tab, and create a new record with Type set to "Note". Enable Create Enabled, Edit Enabled, Delete Enabled as needed, configure dialog options, and set file attachment preferences like MIME types and max size. Save and ensure notes show WEB prefix for portal visibility.
    • Configure Table Permissions: Enable "Enable Table Permissions" on the basic form. Create a parent permission for Supplier table (privileges: Read, Write, Create, Append, Append To) with Contact access type using your Supplier-Contact relationship, assign to user's web role. Add child Annotation permission (Read for view; Create+Append for add; Write for edit; Delete for delete) linked to parent.
    • Test and Sync: Assign web role to contacts, sync site in design studio, clear browser cache, and test as logged-in user. Only note creators can edit/delete their own notes despite permissions.
