Hi,

Whenever I launch power query I get the error below. It happens either when I am trying to edit an existing query or create a blank one. I can't even refresh queries, all my flow for personal finance is at a standstill.

My system is a Surface Laptop 7, with Snapdragon(R) X 10-core X1P64100 @ 3.40 GHz, 3417 Mhz, 10 Core(s), 10 Logical Processor(s)

I am using Microsoft® Excel® for Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2512 Build 16.0.19530.20184) 64-bit

    HI @S2M

This can happen for a significant number of reasons.

    1. Just make sure all your software is up to date, especially office
    2. If you can run excel.exe /safe mode and it works then that means the Cache, or an addon or something else installed is the problem especially for ARM64 systems, which is what you have.

Check for these and wipe them if #2 in safe mode helps.
    %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Power BI Desktop\AnalysisServicesWorkspaces
    %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Office\PowerQuery

Lastly, again it could be anything installed into office, as long as you are running the ARM version and not standard, then turn off any additional features or addins and see if it goes away.

If these suggestions help resolve your issue, Please consider Marking the answer as such and also maybe a like.

    Thank you!
    Sincerely, Michael Gernaey

Sorry you’re having trouble with Power Query! First, make sure your Excel is up to date by going to File → Account → Update Options → Update Now. You can also try starting Excel in Safe Mode (Win + R → excel /safe) to see if add-ins are causing the issue. Clearing the Power Query cache (Data → Get Data → Query Options → Global → Data Load → Clear Cache) and repairing Office (Control Panel → Programs → Microsoft 365 → Change → Quick Repair) often helps as well.
