View Column Formulas Previously Created

Posted on by 37
I am VERY new to Dataverse (like 1 day into it new). I have an app that references tables.  It was created back in 2021.  I didn't create it, but I am trying to work with it.  It has a couple of columns that are obviously using formulas to create numbers; however, I can't figure out where I can see the formulas.  It doesn't work like Sharepoint Lists, where I could look at List settings, or Excel, where I could view the formula in a formula bar.  The images below explain what I see.

The Customer Number Column results in an automatically incrementing number that raises by one each time a new row is added.

I think the column was set up using a formula because the Data Type seems to have been determined by creating a formula since it is not editable.

I just need to see the formula that was used to create the column.  Is this possible?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Yeah it doesn't seem like its a formula field. A formula field lets you edit the formula.

Data type isn't editable when editing any field anyways. Like ankit mentioned, it does seem like some sort of custom solution to autonumber the field.

I think they have implemented auto numbering for this column and we have multiple ways to implement this. Maybe there is a custom code which is triggered on create the records and set the numbering. Another way is using XRM tool box for auto numbering and using the Power Platform auto number feature.
