Multistep form with Parent - Child - Grandchild

I've been given a layout for a dataverse design with a Parent-Child-Grandchild layout.

I've no issue with how it works in the dataverse, but I've not done something with three layers like this in Power Pages (which is the ultimate goal of this.

Do you know if it's going to cause me serious issues in Power Pages?

    Hi,

No, it won’t cause serious issues, but you need to plan your form design and relationships carefully because Power Pages does not automatically handle deep hierarchical relationships out-of-the-box.

    Challenges in Power Pages

    Form Design:

Power Pages forms typically handle one table at a time. Displaying related records (especially two levels deep) requires subgrids or custom Liquid code.
    Permissions:

Ensure table permissions are configured for all three tables so users can view and edit related records.
    Navigation:

Out-of-the-box, you can show a subgrid for Child records on the Parent form. For Grandchild records, you’ll need:
    • Either a custom page for Grandchild records.
    • Or use Liquid templates and FetchXML to display them.

    Best Practices

    Use Subgrids for Child Records
    • Add a subgrid on the Parent form for Child records.
    • Add another subgrid on the Child form for Grandchild records.
    Consider Custom Web Templates
    • If you need all three levels visible on one page, use Liquid + FetchXML to query and render related records.
    Performance Considerations
    • Avoid loading too many related records on a single page.
    • Use pagination or filtering for large datasets.

what @sannavajjala87 said is all true.
Question would be what exactly do you want to do?

You can define nested security settings inside PowerPages.
I would highly recommend the FetchXML Builder from the XRM Toolbox to build your queries. Make sure to filter as early as possible for higher performance.
If necessary and possible try caching these in the session storage. But that's something else to consider.

Is there any open point from your side?
Closing that thread for now. In case you need more help you can always open it again.

    Hi @Martin2022,

What Sannavajjala mentioned is correct. In addition to that, I’d suggest leveraging Liquid code along with Power Pages web roles — that combination worked best for me. A few months ago I had a similar requirement where I needed a nested gallery that would expand to show child and grandchild records on click. I implemented it using HTML with Liquid embedded, and based on the assigned web roles, users were able to view only the data relevant to them.
