October 2018 Flow Release Notes: Highlight - Flow Approval of site join to Hub sites
Are you new to SharePoint Hub sites?
If you are, you are not alone. This article will not cover all that is needed to understand what they are nor how to govern them. If you want a resource for Hubs and how to operationalize their use, visit SharePoint Hub Sites: How do you know when you need one? Written by Sarah Haase who has written a post to get you thinking about what Hub sites are and how you can use them in your company as well as what questions you should be asking here: https://blog.splibrarian.com/2018/08/13/sharepoint-hub-sites-how-do-you-know-when-you-need-one/
If you want to learn how to create an approval process for managing what Sites to add to the Hub, Flow can be your answer by incorporating an approval Flow to the SharePoint administrator.
It can be difficult to figure out what do with SharePoint Hub Sites and how to control the 50 100 Hub site limit. In continuing with the development of Flow integration to SharePoint Online, according to the latest October release notes: "Site owners will be prompted to create and run an approval process whenever they want to join a hub site in their tenant. Furthermore, for organizations that have turned off self-site creation, users can now request a site to be provisioned, which will initiate a request to SharePoint administrators before being provisioned."
You no longer need to create your own forms to manage site creation approval processes or try to figure out if the site collection should be a part of Hub sites. You now have the opportunity to govern what is requested to be added in Hub sites and decide whether it makes sense for your Hub strategy. Great new Flow to help SharePoint administers control Hub sprawl.
