When a lead is qualified, a contact and account are automatically created. The company details and contact information entered are transferred to the account. You can create a custom field to add to the contact or account creation. The mapping can be changed in the following location: Advanced Settings -> Customizations -> Customize the System
Entities -> Lead -> 1:n Relationships:
Inside this there are the 'account_originating_lead' and the 'contact_originating_lead', where the mapping is located.
Here you can map your custom field to any other existing field:
