Copilot Agents

Microsoft has announced (Oct 2024) the public preview of Copilot Agents within Copilot Studio, giving businesses the power to create autonomous agents that can streamline and automate their processes.

What Are Autonomous Agents?
Autonomous agents are AI-powered tools that operate on their own, handling tasks and managing business processes without needing constant oversight. Built within Copilot Studio, these agents allow businesses to easily create, manage, and integrate them into their workflows. Think of them as a new breed of "apps" specifically designed for an AI-driven world.

Public Preview of Copilot Studio for Autonomous Agents
Starting Nov 2024  month, anyone will be able to create autonomous agents in Copilot Studio, with access to the public preview. This opens up opportunities for businesses to customize agents to automate various processes, from sales pipelines to supply chain management, drawing on data from Microsoft 365, Dataverse, and more.

Why Are Autonomous Agents Important?
Autonomous agents have the potential to transform how businesses operate. Rather than relying on traditional apps or manual processes, these agents can take over tasks like lead generation or customer support, enabling teams to work faster and more efficiently. Whether operating independently or alongside your team, these agents can execute business processes in real-time, helping businesses scale like never before.

Agents in Dynamics 365
Microsoft is revolutionizing business operations by introducing autonomous agents in Dynamics 365, helping organizations move from traditional, manual workflows to AI-driven processes. These agents are designed to simplify operations and deliver significant value across sales, service, finance, and supply chain teams.
  • Sales Qualification Agent: Time is crucial in sales. This agent assists sellers by researching leads, prioritizing opportunities, and guiding customer outreach with personalized emails and responses. Sellers can focus on closing deals while the agent manages routine tasks.
  • Supplier Communications Agent: Supply chains are often complex and prone to disruptions. This agent autonomously tracks supplier performance, detects delays, and responds accordingly to reduce costly interruptions. It enables procurement teams to focus on strategic goals rather than reactive problem-solving.
  • Customer Intent and Knowledge Management Agents: For customer care teams, these agents are a game-changer. They handle high call volumes, learn how to resolve customer issues, and autonomously create knowledge-based articles to scale best practices. This ensures faster and more consistent customer service, even during peak times.
As autonomous agents become integral to business processes, security and data governance are essential. The agents in Dynamics 365 are built with Microsoft’s commitment to security, privacy, and responsible AI. Developed in Copilot Studio, they follow strict protocols, including data loss prevention and robust authentication, ensuring safe and reliable use across the organization.
