What’s happening?
Customers have questions regarding the management of Copilot features, specifically about data storage within the Microsoft Cloud trust boundary and the behavior of Copilot features after updates.

Reason:
The underlying cause of the inquiries relates to concerns about sensitive data management and the potential re-enabling of previously disabled Copilot features after updates.

Resolution:

  • To restrict data movement within a specific region when using generative AI features, ensure the appropriate toggle is activated. This toggle is intended to prevent data from moving outside the designated region. See more: Move data across regions for Copilots and generative AI features.
  • A feature registry is being developed to simplify the process of disabling Copilot features, along with improvements to the Copilot Hub for centralized control of all settings.
  • Currently, there is no central method to disable all Copilot capabilities. It is recommended to raise separate support tickets for each specific feature that needs to be addressed, as each feature is managed by different product teams.
  • It has been noted that new features may be enabled by default after updates, but previously disabled features should not automatically re-enable.
