What’s happening?
The customer has requested the addition of more batch servers based on a suggestion from their Microsoft Architect. The customer is experiencing issues with batch threads being exhausted within a short period.
Reason:
The customer has not updated their subscription estimator in Microsoft Dynamics Lifecycle Services (LCS) since 2023, which is necessary to increase batch capacity. The existing batch servers are reaching their threshold limits for CPU and memory utilization.
Resolution:
- Update Subscription Estimator: The customer must update their subscription estimator in Microsoft Dynamics Lifecycle Services (LCS) to comply with their business resource requirements. This is crucial for increasing batch capacity. Batch-Capacity-or-request-to-add-additional-Batch-Servers
- Acquire More User Licenses: Ensure that the necessary user licenses are acquired, as the batch capacity is determined based on user licenses.
- Adjust Capacity: Once the user licenses are updated, the platform will automatically increase the batch capacity by adjusting the thread count per existing server. If the existing servers reach their threshold limits for CPU and memory utilization, the platform will add more batch servers.
- Request Downtime: If the topology is not updated after increasing the user licenses, request downtime (30 minutes to 1 hour) to update the topology. This can be done by following the steps mentioned under the "Changing Compute Sizing" section of the F&O infrastructure sizing documentation.
- Alternative Options: The customer can also deploy a package or enable/disable the maintenance mode to make the changes take effect without requiring downtime.
- Engage with Microsoft Architect: It is recommended to contact the Microsoft Architect for further details and to discuss the opportunity for updating the subscription estimator.
- Follow Up: Ensure to follow up with the customer to confirm the progress on updating their subscription estimator and to check if they require any further assistance.
