What’s happening?
Customers receive an error when attempting to add entities into an export project, specifically stating that "The Source name BYOD-Prod in the Entity store form is not valid." This error occurs when trying to export data to Excel in both Development (DEV) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) environments.

Reason:
The underlying cause of this is an invalid BYOD (Bring Your Own Database) connection string, which leads to the absence of a required data encryption certificate when editing the Source data formats table and the EntityStoreConnectionString field.

Resolution:

  1. Navigate to your Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations application.
  2. Go to Data management.
  3. Select Configure entity export to database.
  4. Choose your BYOD and click on Validate to check for any error messages.
  5. If the error persists, delete the existing Source name and add it again to ensure a valid data encryption certificate is applied.
  6. After correcting the BYOD connection string, the customer should be able to select different export target data formats without encountering the error.
