What’s happening?
Experiencing issues with the installation and updating of Power Automate for desktop (PAD) on Windows devices, particularly when access to the Windows Update servers is restricted.
Reason:
The underlying cause of this could be that the Windows Update servers are blocked, preventing automatic updates for the Power Automate for desktop application installed via the MSI installer. The store app version of Power Automate is designed to update automatically, while the MSI version does not have this capability.
Resolution:
- For users with restricted access to the Windows Update servers, it is necessary to manually update the MSI installer version of Power Automate for desktop. This requires local computer administrator privileges.
