What’s happening?
CRM documents stored in SharePoint are opening by default in the online web version instead of the respective desktop application.
Reason:
Documents opening in the browser or client by default is governed by the SharePoint library settings. By default, after configuring SharePoint to use Office Web Apps Server, clicking a document such as Word, PowerPoint, or OneNote opens it in the browser.
Resolution:
To change the default open behavior for a document library, follow these steps:
1. Navigate to the Document Library Settings.
2. Select "Advanced settings."
3. Under "Opening Documents in the Browser", choose one of the following options:
- Open in the client application: This option will open the document in the corresponding client application if it's available.
- Open in the browser: This option will open the document in the web browser using the web app for that document type.
- Use the server default: This option will open the document using the default open behavior specified for the server running the SharePoint farm.
