What’s happening?
The customer encounters an error when attempting to update records using the "fiscal calendar period" data entity. The error message states: "Cannot edit a record in fiscal calendar period (FiscalPeriodStaging). Period status: On hold." This issue arises even when the period being updated is in an open status.
 

Reason:
The underlying cause of this is that the specific period being updated is on hold, which prevents any edits from being made to the record.
 

Resolution:

  1. Workaround: Use the manual option or the "Open in Excel" functionality to update the fiscal calendar period.
  2. If the issue persists, it is recommended to raise the concern as an idea on the Microsoft Ideas portal to engage the product team and gather support from other users who may have similar scenarios. This can help prioritize the need for a fix in future updates.
