What’s happening?
Customers may encounter an error while configuring the dual write setup for Dynamics 365 Project Operations, specifically receiving a message indicating that the Dynamics 365 for Sales solution is missing or that a required version is not available.

Reason:
The underlying cause of this is related to the absence of the required version of the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Project Operations application or misconfiguration in the dual write setup.

Resolution:

  1. Navigate to the Dual Write User Interface (DW UI).
  2. Click on the "Apply solution" button and take a screenshot of the solutions that appear.
  3. Go to the Power Platform Admin Center and select the corresponding Dataverse environment.
  4. Check under "Dynamics 365 Apps" to see if there is an application called "Microsoft Dynamics 365 Project Operations." Verify its version and check if it is pending an update.
  5. Ensure that all prerequisites are met as outlined in the documentation: Prerequisites for Dual Write.
  6. If the problem persists, collect two network traces:
  7. One trace when the error occurs.
  8. Another trace when clicking on "Refresh table" for one of the maps that are failing.
  9. Check which version of the map "Project tasks (msdyn_projecttasks)" is being attempted to run:
  10. To check available mapping versions, navigate to the DW UI, select the mapping, and click on "Table map versions."
  11. To check the mapping version the customer is trying to run, navigate to the DW UI, find the mapping in the main UI, and observe the version column (which will display the version number and publisher).
If the issue remains unresolved after following these steps, further assistance may be required from the support team.
