What’s happening?
Customers experience errors when launching the tracking process in the Traceability (Preview) application after installation. Specific issues include receiving an "Unknown error" when attempting to save configuration changes and an error message stating "Failed to load activity settings" when trying to open the settings/Activities form.

Reason:
This may arise due to missing or outdated required components, modules, and solutions for the Traceability app, as well as potential problems with user permissions and browser-related issues.

Resolution:

  1. Dependencies for Traceability (Preview):
  2. Ensure that all required components, modules, and solutions for the Traceability app are installed and up-to-date.
  3. Verify any dependent services or configurations in the environment that might affect the loading of activity settings.
  4. Examine Event Viewer Logs:
  5. Navigate to System Administration > Batch jobs > Batch job history to check for any errors related to Traceability during form loading.
  6. In case of server-side issues, check event logs for any errors that occurred when trying to load the application.
  7. Role Permissions:
  8. Verify that the user accessing the form has the required security roles and permissions for accessing the Activity settings. This can be checked under Settings > Security roles.
  9. Cache/Cookies:
  10. Clear the browser's cache or test in a different browser or incognito mode to resolve any browser-related issues that may prevent the form from loading properly.
  11. Token Validation:
  12. Ensure that the application has the proper authentication tokens configured for the Traceability (Preview) app.
  13. Check if the current token being used is still valid or has expired. If expired, re-authenticate or request a new token.
  14. Validation Issues:
  15. Ensure that all required fields are filled out properly. Forms can throw errors if certain fields are missing values, even if they aren't marked as required.
  16. Verify that any lookup fields on the form refer to valid records.
If the issue persists after following these steps, further investigation may be required.
