What’s happening?
The customer is seeking to understand the difference between the Power Pages authenticated report and the beta dashboard regarding the number of unique authenticated users.
Reason:
The difference in the number of unique authenticated users reported by the Power Pages authenticated report and the analytics dashboard is due to the different methodologies used for counting. The analytics dashboard includes all authenticated users who accessed the websites, including internal users with existing Power Apps licenses. In contrast, the Power Pages authenticated report only includes users whose visits count towards license consumption, excluding internal users.
Resolution:
- The authenticated user counts in the analytics dashboard include all authenticated users, while the Power Pages authenticated report is more accurate for licensing calculations as it only includes users whose visits count towards license consumption.
- The registration of users is triggered by their activity on the website. The analytics view shows all authenticated user traffic, including internal users who do not consume licenses, while the consumption reports show traffic associated with license consumption.
- Data updates for both reports take about 24 hours to reflect a full day's data.
- When it states 100 users/site/month and a purchase of 17 packs, the total of 1700 units represents 1700 unique users throughout the entire month, not simultaneously at a given time. Each user is counted as unique if they log into the website within a calendar month, regardless of the number of logins.
