What’s happening?
Customers are seeking guidance on how to create a staging site for their website using Power Pages and connect it to a live site.

Reason:
A staging site in Power is a non-production environment used for testing, reviewing, or preparing content and configurations before they are published to a live (production) site.

Resolution:
To create a staging site in CRM using Power Pages, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Power Pages: If it's your first time, select the "Try it for free" button to sign up for a free account.
  2. Select Environment: Choose the Microsoft Dataverse environment where you want to create the site. It is recommended not to use the default environment to avoid unintentional data issues.
  3. Create a Site: On the home page, select "+ Create a Site".
  4. Choose a Template: Review the available templates. Hover over a template to preview it and select "Choose this template" once you find the one that fits your business needs.
  5. Validate Site Name and Address: Validate the default site name and web address, then select "Done". It might take a few moments for your new site to be created.
  6. Edit or Preview the Site: After the site is created, you can begin to edit or preview your site.

Additionally, it is possible to create a staging site in a different environment using Power Pages. You can create additional sites in an environment with Dynamics 365 apps, such as Customer self-service, Employee self-service sites, and others. Each environment can support multiple site templates, and you can create up to 50 sites per environment depending on the template used.
