Applies to Product – Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations (on-premises)

What’s happening?
Only for some users, the date and time filter is functioning as the old version, which does not consider hours, leading to discrepancies in filtering results.

Reason:
The default filter option in Dynamics 365 changes to "in between" instead of "exactly" due to the syntax used for filtering blank values. Users can use the "matches" or "is equal to" operator with an empty string to retrieve rows with blank values for the current column. This syntax is used to filter records that do not have an exact match but fall within a range, leading to the default option changing to "in between" instead of "exactly."

Resolution:

  • Users experiencing this should be informed that the behavior is by design.
  • A workaround is to manually select the "exactly" option when filtering.
  • If users require the "exactly" option, they can change it with minimal effort.
  • It is recommended to log the issue in the ideas portal for further review by the product group, as it is currently considered a system behavior.
  • Document the issue with screenshots and user IDs for further investigation.
  • If the issue is not reproducible in a standard environment, further investigation may be required to identify specific user environments causing the discrepancy.
If further details are needed, please ensure to gather screen recordings from users to assist in troubleshooting.
