Applies to Product - Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability

What’s happening?
Customers are experiencing issues connecting to their SQL server where the virtual network gateways are not showing up for data import in the Microsoft Sustainability app, despite being visible in Power Apps.

Reason:
The product group confirmed that virtual network data gateways are not supported for the Sustainability Manager app and its imports. The on-premises data gateway is required to access data sources for the app.

Resolution:

  1. Ensure that the SQL server is online and accessible.
  2. If using an on-premises data gateway, it is necessary to have a global admin set up the connection for data import, as sharing connections with the on-premises data gateway has limitations in the context of the Sustainability app.
  3. If the SQL server database is on-premise (even on a VM), confirm this to guide through setting up the connection using the on-premise gateway.
  4. If public access is denied, consider allowing public access temporarily to resolve connection issues, or set up a private endpoint from inside the virtual network.
