What’s happening?
Customers are experiencing difficulties retrieving 2024 emission data from the Emissions Dashboard Template App. The app does not seem to receive any data, resulting in messages indicating "No usage data found so cannot onboard." Additionally, there are concerns regarding the accuracy of carbon intensity data displayed in the dashboard.
Reason:
The underlying cause of this may relate to the necessary permissions and roles not being correctly set up in the Azure subscription. Specifically, both the service principal used to read Azure emissions and the user creating the connection in the Sustainability Manager must have permission to read billing account data from the Azure subscription. Furthermore, if the subscription is under sponsorship, it may affect the functionality of the dashboard.
Resolution:
- Ensure that all prerequisites for the Emissions Dashboard are met, including having the necessary permissions and roles, such as being a Billing Administrator.
- Verify that the service principal has the required permissions to read billing account data from the Azure subscription.
- Check if the subscription is under any sponsorship and confirm if any additional steps are needed for the Emissions Dashboard to function correctly.
