Applies to Product - Power Platform Administration

What’s happening?
Customers need to perform a backup and deletion of their Dynamics 365 environment, as well as deactivate their licenses after migrating to another platform.

Reason:
Backups of environments are retained for a limited time. For sandbox environments, backups are kept for a maximum of 7 days, while production environments retain backups for up to 30 days. If the requested backup date exceeds these limits, the backup will no longer be available.

Resolution:
To take a backup of your environment, follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to the Power Platform admin center using administrator credentials.
  2. Navigate to the Environment: - Go to Environments and select the environment you want to back up.
  3. Create a Manual Backup:
    • Select Backups & Restore > Create manual backup.
    • Fill in the required information and select Create.
  4. When the backup is completed, you will receive a message confirming the successful creation of the backup.

To delete an environment, follow these steps:
  1. Sign in to the Power Platform admin center.
  2. Select the environment you wish to delete.
  3. Confirm the deletion by providing the necessary confirmation data and selecting Confirm.

Please note that if you attempt to restore a backup that has expired, it will not be possible.
