Applies to Product - Power Platform Administration
What’s happening?
Customers need to perform a backup and deletion of their Dynamics 365 environment, as well as deactivate their licenses after migrating to another platform.
Reason:
Backups of environments are retained for a limited time. For sandbox environments, backups are kept for a maximum of 7 days, while production environments retain backups for up to 30 days. If the requested backup date exceeds these limits, the backup will no longer be available.
Resolution:
To take a backup of your environment, follow these steps:
- Sign in to the Power Platform admin center using administrator credentials.
- Navigate to the Environment: - Go to Environments and select the environment you want to back up.
- Create a Manual Backup:
- Select Backups & Restore > Create manual backup.
- Fill in the required information and select Create.
- When the backup is completed, you will receive a message confirming the successful creation of the backup.
To delete an environment, follow these steps:
- Sign in to the Power Platform admin center.
- Select the environment you wish to delete.
- Confirm the deletion by providing the necessary confirmation data and selecting Confirm.
Please note that if you attempt to restore a backup that has expired, it will not be possible.
