What’s happening?
Customers are looking for ways to automatically assign the Basic User role to multiple users in their environment, as they are unable to do so individually for a large number of users.


Reason:
By default, roles are automatically assigned to users who have certain licenses assigned. If a user is licensed but no roles are assigned, it may be due to the automatic role assignment settings in the Dataverse environment.


Resolution:

  1. Review the automatic role assignment settings in your Dataverse environment.
  2. To enable automatic assignment of the Basic User role based on licenses, ensure that users have the appropriate licenses assigned.
  3. If you wish to disable the automatic license-based role assignment, you will need to create a support request, as this is not available as a self-service administrative action.
