What’s happening?
Customers are requesting to change the regions of their environments from one geographical location to another, specifically from Europe to a different region, and are facing challenges in doing so.

Reason:
The migration of environments to certain regions may be restricted due to tax policies and other regulations, particularly for tenants not located in the target region.

Resolution:

  1. Confirm that the request is for environments from the tenant located in the original region.
  2. Provide the name and address of the company that contracts with Microsoft for the services.
  3. Verify if the company requesting the migration has an Australian Business Number (ABN) and if the customer's Australian affiliate is registered for GST in Australia.
  4. For environments with associated marketing apps, flows, canvas apps, or custom pages, it is recommended to export these before migration.
  5. Note that geo-to-geo migration is only supported for production and sandbox types of environments.
  6. Inform the customer that there will be approximately 10-30 minutes of downtime during the migration process.
  7. After the migration, ensure that any Power Automate flows are re-enabled and connections are fixed as necessary.
  8. For further details on the migration process, refer to the documentation Geo-to-geo migrations - Power Platform | Microsoft Learn.
