Applies to Product – Dynamics 365 Business Central
What’s happening?
Customers are experiencing errors when searching for items or products across all modules, receiving an error message stating, "The operation could not be completed. Please try again later."
Reason:
This is attributed to intermittent database connectivity problems, which may have occurred due to resource rebalancing aimed at enhancing user experience. Additionally, there may be special database configurations affecting the search functionality.
Troubleshooting:
To troubleshoot the error in searching items, follow these steps:
- Connectivity Check: Use the Troubleshooting Connectivity page to identify and fix problems connecting to Business Central online. Open an Internet browser, enter the URL used to access Business Central, and append /connectivity at the end. For example, https://businesscentral.dynamics.com/<tenant_id>/SandboxAU/connectivity. Then, choose "Start check" to run a series of connectivity checks.
- Review Database Performance: Investigate the database performance as the error message indicates intermittent connectivity issues. This could be due to resource rebalancing or high DTU (Database Transaction Units) usage, which may affect performance during searches
- Change Data Search Method: If the issue persists, verify if changing the data search method in lists resolves the problem.
- Monitor SQL Server Connection: Check if the error message occurs consistently during searches or if it was a one-time occurrence. This may help in identifying if the issue is related to a lost connection to the SQL server or a temporary disconnection.
