What’s happening?
Customers may encounter issues when attempting to upgrade managed solutions, resulting in errors related to existing holding solutions or pending upgrades.
 

Reason:

  1. The error may occur due to a previously staged solution that has not been completed, leading to a conflict with the new upgrade. For example, an error message may indicate that a holding solution already exists.
  2. Dependency issues may prevent the deletion of existing solutions, which can lead to further complications during the upgrade process.

 

Resolution:

  1. To resolve this, navigate to the Settings > Solutions in the environment.
  2. Select the pending upgrade solution (the one without the "_Upgrade" suffix) and choose "Apply Solution Upgrade."
  3. If the upgrade fails due to dependencies, consider uninstalling the existing upgrade solution. However, be cautious as this may lead to data loss if there are components that contain data.
  4. If the issue persists, check the error logs to identify any specific problems and address them accordingly.
  5. If necessary, re-add any previously removed web resources before retrying the upgrade process.
