What’s happening?
The customer is unable to create Workflow Templates, and attempts to activate process templates are reverting back to the process.
Reason:
This arises because process templates cannot be activated anymore. This problem is due to the fact that the Workflow Designer is a legacy component that is on the path to deprecation. Microsoft has stopped maintaining this functionality, and all customers globally are affected.
Resolution:
- The Workflow Designer will remain with limited support as it is in the deprecation path. There will be no improvements on any of the legacy components.
- Creating, editing, or deleting workflows will continue until full deprecation.
- There will be no fix for issues in the legacy workflow designer as it is going to be deprecated in the near future.
- It is recommended to use Power Automate flows instead of the legacy workflow, as Power Automate is the current and future product with all the latest features. For more information, refer to the documentation on replacing workflows with flows: Power Automate Documentation.
