What’s happening?
The system is unable to complete the MRP/MPS process, resulting in the failure to create production orders and purchase orders. This issue is critical and significantly impacts business operations.
Reason:
The underlying cause of this is related to the inability to delete planning worksheet lines because the "Ref. Order No" no longer exists. This problem occurs when purchase order lines, transfer order lines, firm planned production order lines, and released production order lines have planning flexibility set to Unlimited. When these lines are set to unlimited, the system replans these lines if there is a change in demand. If an order is subsequently deleted, the associated planning worksheet line cannot be deleted.
Resolution:
- Uninstall any custom extensions to check if the error persists.
- To reproduce the issue:
- Calculate MRP/MPS.
- Create an order with "Planning Flexibility" set to Unlimited on the lines.
- Create a Transfer Order, Firm Planned Production Order, or Released Production Order.
- Change demand for the item on the order.
- Calculate MRP/MPS again.
- Change the status of the order as needed (e.g., ship and receive transfer order, change status from Firm Planned to Released, or from Released to Finished).
- Attempt to delete the line associated with the Planning Worksheet line.
- If the issue persists, gather the error message and call stack from the ### Queue Log Entries page in the system for further investigation.
