Applies to Product - Dynamics 365 Business Central

What’s happening?
1. Customers are experiencing difficulties accessing Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement within their Partner accounts.
2. Issues with Business Central user licenses where only admin users can view certain fields.

Reason:

  1. For Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement access, this may stem from improper user permissions or lack of necessary licenses.
  2. For Business Central, the problem appears to be related to user profiles not being extended with the customized fields, preventing non-admin users from viewing them.
Resolution:
Accessing Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement:
  1. Sign in to the Microsoft 365 admin center with appropriate credentials.
  2. Create a new user:
    • Enter a username and password, ensuring the option to change the password upon first sign-in is cleared.
    • Assign the role of "User (no administrator access)".
    • Select "Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement Plan" as the product.
  3. Configure user permissions:
    • Sign in to the Power Platform Admin center as a System Administrator.
    • Select an environment and navigate to "Settings" > "Users + permissions" > "Application users".
    • Edit the security roles for the created user and assign the appropriate Role, in this case, the "Microsoft Marketplace Lead Writer" role.
  4. Configure lead connections:
    • Go to the Offer setup page for your offer in the publishing portal.
    • Under the "Customer leads" section, select "Connect" and choose "Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement" as the lead destination.
    • Enter the URL for the Dynamics 365 instance and select the method of authentication.
  5. Validate the configuration by clicking the "Validate" button to ensure a successful connection.
Resolving Business Central User License Issues:
  1. Ensure that all users have the same permission sets and profiles as the admin users.
  2. If general users cannot see the fields, check if their profiles are extended with the necessary fields.
  3. If users can see the fields but encounter error messages, this may indicate issues with their permission sets.
