What’s happening?
Customers are experiencing issues with the new 'Quantity Rounding Precision' feature introduced by Microsoft, which is being applied inappropriately in the Production Order Component's 'Quantity' field. This feature is causing discrepancies between the 'Quantity' values in production orders and those set in the Production BOM, which is critical for accurate formulation. The 'Qty. Rounding Precision' is influencing the 'Quantity' value, leading to complications in managing inventory and item units of measure, particularly for weight units like pounds.

Reason:
The current functionality of the 'Quantity Rounding Precision' feature is confirmed to be by design. The system is rounding all quantities to the set rounding precision, which may not align with the expected behavior for production orders. This design limitation affects the integrity of production recipes and the accuracy of formulations.

Resolution:

  • It is suggested to adjust the rounding precision to a smaller value, such as 0.01, or to use an additional unit of measure (UOM), such as grams, for production orders.
  • Customers are encouraged to document the issue, including actual and expected results, and the business impact, to provide to the product group team for further investigation.
  • Customers should consider adding their concerns to the idea portal for future releases consideration, as the product team regularly reviews submissions for potential inclusion in updates.
